Long Term Care Unit
Partnership between ARS/District Centre for Social Security | Monitoring of the National Network for Integrated Continued Care (RNCCI) project with the Portuguese Red Cross - Tavira.

It began its activity in May 2009.
Occupancy: 32 inpatients plus 2 caregivers resting.
The Continued Care Unit of Santa Catarina da Fonte do Bispo has as its main objective to contribute, in an integrated perspective, to the active and continuous process of recovery and overall maintenance of its users, providing more and better health care, in a timely manner, with humanity and in a perspective of social solidarity, in harmony with the traditional spirit of the commitment of the Humanitarian Centre of Tavira.
24 hour operation.

-Permanent medical and nursing care;
Prescription and administration of drugs;
- Psychosocial support (social workers and psychologists);
- Socio-cultural animation;
- Care of physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy;
- Nutrition care;
- Operational assistants and general services;
- Hygiene, comfort and food;
The inpatient typology has a maximum limit of 180 days and the caregiver rest typology has a duration of 30 days that can be extended up to 90 days per year, non-consecutive.
The users of the Long-term Care and Maintenance Unit of Santa Catarina da Fonte do Bispo come from other RNCCI responses, the Agudos Hospital and from home.
Referrals to the ULDM are made through the EGA (discharge management team) which is located in the Hospital de Agudos, from home through referral by the family doctor, and can also be referred by the other typologies of the RNCCI.
